Obese Babies. I didn't know!

I really didn't know this was such a problem.  Now I wonder how much else do I need to know about as a new mom.  There is so much pressure on us to do it right so we won't hurt or mess up our kids.  I know my little boy will be fine, but still this is really a problem out in our world.  Read up, learn, and make sure you're feeding your kids healthy stuff and not junk!

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just don't start giving him french fries at 6 months ;) I think we live in an obese society. My kids were breastfed and they were big until 1 year when they barely gained anything from 12-18 months and even less from 18-24months. Now they're average. Feed your kids good foods and teach them good eating habits. If we gave our kids fast food all the time and didn't cook healthily, they'd probably be obese now, too, having nothing to do with the fact that they were breastfed and everything to do with eating habits.

You know Heather, I had to stop breastfeeding and the lactation specialist was great and said I had to take care of my health too. But there was a girl in training that really was pushy and told me that once Ian went on formula he would get fat and all that nonsense. We cook almost every night. It's amazing how much money we save by cooking and taking leftovers to lunch. So, if we continue on that path of eating healthy and Ian watches us take care of ourselves by good eating habits and exercise, then he should be fine. But sitting around eating garbage all day in front of the tv is not going to help!
